Summer Bucket List {2024}

May 27, 2024 Leave a Comment

Well, it is SUMMER! I always enjoy making these Summer Bucket Lists, but they sure have changed over the years as I now have teenagers (and one is 18!). We are really looking forward to our Disney Cruise this summer! I’ve done a couple Royal Caribbean cruises, but it has always been a bucket list item for us to all go on a Disney cruise. My husband and kids have never been on a cruise EVER! So, it should be fun!

As in years past, I have always done a Summer Bucket List for me, the teens and one for my husband and I. It is just more fun that way and it encourages us to do a lot of family activities and it also encourages Brian and I to have lots of date nights, etc. It also encourages me to get a couple things done during the summer. I don’t always cross everything off the list, but that’s ok!

Summer Bucket List for Me

1. I have a summer birthday and it is always fun to plan something special for it. I’d love to try Vicia’s restaurant owners French restaurant – Bistro La Floraison. Then with the teens I’d love to do a fun little day trip to Washington, MO. I used to work out there and I’d love to visit Dairy Delight again, maybe do part of the 5-mile Rotary Riverfront Trail or visit the Farmer’s Market. There is also Waterworks Antiques, a four-story shop located in a historic pump house right on the river. And, before we head out it’d be fun to try Main Street Creamery.

2. I have a to do list for my business that has gotten terribly long. I would really like to find a few hours a week to plug away at it. I know this doesn’t sound very exciting, but it would be exciting to me to make a dent in it! Had headshot/brand photos done!

3. It would be fun to try out a new summer 5K (Castaway Cay on Disney’s private island!) or do some hiking at Castlewood State Park or the longer Hickory Ridge Trail (1.2 mile) at Powder Valley

4. Possibly, try some of these coffee/restaurants (AND some are plant shops too!):
Maypop Coffee & Garden Shop
Bowood by Niche
9 Mile Coffee Drive Through Truck
Scooters Coffee Shop
La Cosecha Coffee Roasters in Maplewood or their coffee truck on Saturday mornings in Kirkwood 8-12 p.m. (tried their coffee at their coffee truck back in 2020 and still crave it!)

Summer Bucket List for the Teens

1. Family Disney Cruise

2. Try some new places if we have time: Slick City Action Park (World’s first indoor slide (no water!) park), Painted Tree or Nine Mile Pop Up Market, maybe a day trip to Cahokia Mounds (never been) and maybe some other places. I have a collab coming up with a new (to us) escape room, which will be fun!

3. Both teens are getting their FIRST part-time jobs this summer. Nathan is working at a small engineering place and Autumn has one lined up as a camp counselor. She’s going to be working with a lot of her friends, so that will be a lot of fun for her!

4. We are going to get Autumn’s room painted/refreshed. This has been on the back burner for a long time.

Summer Bucket List for Brian and I

1. I would love to pick up some goodies from Nathaniel Reid Bakery and have an outdoor picnic.
2. Brian offered to plan a date night for us this summer. I’m usually the planner, but when he plans it is always pretty awesome. He did a French themed date day! We went to La Patisserie Chouquette for breakfast, painted Monet’s Yellow Irises at Pinot’s Pallet and Wine Bar and then had dinner at The Crossing in Clayton.

3. A few places I thought would be fun to check out: Wild Crush where they have wine on tap, One 19 North (wine and tapas bar in Kirkwood) and maybe a theater that serves you food/drinks during the movie such as the Alamo in City Foundry.

Hope you enjoyed my Summer Bucket List. What are you up to this summer?
