My Invisalign Journey (Revision Trays 1-24) and Progression Photos

February 11, 2018 Leave a Comment

Today I’m going to share progression photos from my SECOND round of revision trays with Invisalign. This was actually my THIRD set of trays, because I had my initial set of trays, my first round of revision trays and a second round of revision trays (the photos I am sharing today!).

Sorry this post took so long to share… but, my husband had taken these photos off my iPhone and put them on DropBox and I had just been too lazy to ask him how to find them! I am DONE with Invisalign, so I will be sharing a final post in May with my thoughts on Invisalign, my restoration of my 2 front teeth (that I chipped as a child) and another surprise that happened at the very end… My orthodontist wants me to continue to wear my trays for 6 months, so I will be wearing them until April 30th. Your teeth shift the most right after you finish Invisalign, so this is something Invisalign recommends. Then, I can just wear my nightly retainer trays. Thankfully, all of the buttons are off my teeth and I’m done with all of my Invisalign appointments. I am just happily waiting until April 30th!

Also, a fun little tidbit… My Invisalign posts are my post popular Google Search posts, isn’t that a hoot?!

Progress Photos
These are pictures of my teeth and some are close ups… so, just a little warning. 🙂 Probably not the most flattering photos, but I want to share how they changed from tray to tray and you can’t do that unless you show some close ups.

Just as a reminder…. this is what my teeth looked like before Invisalign. I’m also having a bad hair day here, if I remember correctly it was cold and rainy.

Thoughts on Revision Trays 1-24:

I wasn’t expecting a second set of revision trays, but my teeth on the back left side were not ‘locking in’ and they were needed. You don’t want to have any little gaps between the top and bottom of your teeth (when you’re teeth are closed down), because it can cause you to bite your cheek, etc. and is just not proper orthodontics. I also started bleaching my teeth during these trays, but the bleaching didn’t work well, because of all of the buttons on my teeth. I landed up doing a second round of bleaching trays AFTER the buttons were removed and WOW… such a difference. It’s such a big shock for me to look back at these photos, because my teeth are so much whiter now! I restorative work done on my two front teeth that I had chipped as a child, which you’ll see when I do my last post in May. They look SO much better. They are whiter and my dentist (who is also my orthodontist) made them shorter and more even with the rest of my teeth. I have such a better smile now. We had talked about doing crowns on my two front teeth and the two teeth next to them, but my dentist later decided to do chair side veneers. These won’t stain, like my bonding had done and will be stronger. So far, I have loved the veneers and I also like that the work only had to be done on my two front teeth and my other two teeth next to them were untouched! I think that is always a good thing, especially if the teeth have no problems.

There was also an unexpected surprise that came up at the very end, which I’ll talk about in my last post. Stay tuned for that post, I’ll be sharing it in May (when I’m officially done!).

Now, let’s do the Progression Photos!

I had metal braces in 5th grade and never wore my retainer, this is how crooked my teeth were before I started Invisalign!

Now, I’ll show you the progression that I’ve made week by week.

I’m at the orthodontist here, they took ALL of my buttons off and I snapped a photo. Unfortunately, they had to put them all back on, except in different positions. This set of revision trays was like starting over!
